Noemi Gonzalez-Lizama MSN, RN.
After over four decades in my challenging yet rewarding career as a registered nurse, I decided retirement was in order. Little did I know how much I would miss those long twelve hour work days. I so miss the comradery with nurse colleagues along with the direct patient contact.
My name is Noemi Gonzalez-Lizama. I am the mother of two thriving adults and a grandmother to one very spoiled preschool boy. My husband and I live in a small town in Northern Arizona. We are blessed to be surrounded by natural beauty.
During my career as a frontline nurse, I had the privilege to experience multiple care settings: Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, Telemetry/Observation/Step-down cardiac, Intensive Care, Home Care, Hospice, Discharge Case Manager and Combat Military Hospital in Iraq. My military service experience as a field grade officer with the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corp afforded me the opportunity to participate in Humanitarian Missions.
I am a proud recipient of the International DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses and have been presented with the Healer’s Touch Sculpture from Zimbabwe. I have earned recognition from my peers along with Nurse Excellence awards from both civilian and federal employers. During my twelve year career in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corp I was awarded the Commendation and Meritorious Medals.
As an active member of the American Nurses Association I make efforts to keep my finger on the pulse of education and personal development as I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. Being up to date and understanding evidence-base practice is one of the best proclivities of a retired Registered Nurse that is patient oriented and a patient advocate.
